The musicians are Brian Bath on guitar, Eberhard Weber on bass, Liam O’Flynn on uillean pipes, Donal Lunny on bouzouki, and Stuart Elliott on drums. Opening the track is a ten-second excerpt from footage of a Columbia space shuttle mission, and it finishes with her whisper, ‘Go to sleep, little Earth’.

It was used in an episode of the American TV series Miami Vice.

A happy ending comes in the last song, or in Kate’s words, ‘now suddenly out of all this darkness and weight comes light’. Gone is the weightiness, the morning has come, and after the darkness of the previous track comes a brighter, more uplifting tone. Although nothing specifically says so, this is where they are rescued from the water. It was planned as ‘one of those kind of “thank you and” songs’, like the little finale ‘where everyone does a little dance and then the bow and then they leave the stage’.17 The musicians include Del Palmer on bass, Paddy Bush on violins and fujare (a Slovakian shepherd’s flute), Kevin McAlea on synthesizer, and ex-Sky member John Williams on classical guitar.
